10 images2009_ Photo work about Venice commissioned by the Cultural Association "Aurora Street" and the Photography School "CFP Bauer" to a group of 18 Italian photographers. Each photographer chose a specific issue of Venice, such as "Flooded Venice" - "Difficult Venice" - "Venice on sale" - "Abused Venice" - Possible Venice" - "Venice as indigenous reservation" - "Museum Venice" and did a personal photographic serie. The whole final Project named "Which Venice?" consisted of 18 different photoworks and was exhibited at "Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa" Gallery in St Marc Square in Venice. The exhibition was curated by Roberta Orio and Roberta Valtorta. A catalogue was published and distributed in occasion of the opening of the exhibition. ----------------------------------------- Here the text of my work: MEMORIES FROM SUBSOIL "Venice. I close my eyes, I reopen them again under water. Tourists and wares crowd air, water, body and senses, finally blowing the circuits of attention. I become almost blind, I fall in a white-grey space, as among clouds and fog: it’s stagnant, dull water, where nothing is precise. Through a misted light, eyes find it hard to distinguish and focus. Photography reactivates those blown circuits. Amphibious ghosts with long hairs populate the lagoon space, making a messy, blurry landscape of muddy colors. They stream restlessly, then spread out and slowly land on the ground. There they meet stones and materials, memories of men and their past. I closed my eyes to the bright colors, the noise, and the speed of an eternal city to go down in depth to a dreamlike borderland between earth and water, movement and stillness. Among indefinite limits and colors, I gave shape to the movement of the light, which from the pathways of a physical and imaginary subsoil, comes up to the surface to tell its story."
